MP4 audio extraction

Extract MP3 audio from MP4 without uploading the video

The converter reads the audio track inside an MP4 container and encodes it as an MP3 file directly in your browser.

🔒

Local and private

The selected MP4 remains on your device. Only the browser performs the extraction and MP3 encoding.

MP4 codec-aware

MP4 is a container. Compatibility depends on the audio codec inside it; common AAC and MP3 tracks are generally suitable.

Adjustable MP3 quality

Choose 64, 128, 192 or 320 kbps. Higher bitrates preserve more detail but produce larger downloads.

How to convert MP4 to MP3

  1. Select one or more MP4 or M4V files from your device.

  2. Keep MP3 selected and choose a bitrate from 64 to 320 kbps.

  3. Start the conversion, leave the tab open, then download each completed MP3.

What happens to the MP4 file?

MP4 is a media container that can hold video, audio, subtitles and metadata. This tool ignores the video stream, reads the first usable audio stream and encodes that audio with the MP3 codec.

Removing the video makes the result much smaller, but it does not improve audio that was already compressed. A high output bitrate cannot recreate detail missing from the source track.

This page accepts MP4 and M4V containers. Files with unsupported, damaged or DRM-protected audio tracks may not convert.

Choosing an MP3 bitrate

128 kbps is compact and suitable for speech. 192 kbps is a balanced default for music and everyday listening. 320 kbps prioritizes quality but creates a larger file.

The best choice depends on the original audio. Selecting 320 kbps for a low-quality source increases file size without restoring lost detail.

MP4 compatibility and limits

Conversion support depends on the codecs stored inside the MP4 container, not only the file extension. Processing speed and maximum practical size depend on browser memory, device performance, file duration and codec complexity.

No upload time is required, but the tab must remain open while the local conversion engine works.

MP4 to MP3 questions

Is the MP4 uploaded?

No. The MP4 is read and converted locally in your browser.

Can I convert several MP4 files?

Yes. Select multiple files and the application will process them as a batch.

Why does an MP4 fail?

The audio codec may be unsupported, the file may be damaged, encrypted or protected by DRM, or the device may not have enough memory.

Does MP3 reduce quality?

MP3 is a lossy format. Choose a bitrate appropriate for the source; converting cannot restore details already removed from the original audio.

Does it work on phones?

Modern mobile browsers can run the converter, but large or long videos may exceed available memory more easily than on a desktop.
